Meatballs with spinach and mozzarella cheese

Meatballs are much more than just a simple tomato sauce. With this recipe for meatballs with spinach and mozzarella cheese you will discover a new way to prepare them, easy and delicious!

Ingredients

  • 450 g of veal
  • 50 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tablespoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon ground onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoon olive oil
  • 400 g canned whole tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 200 g fresh spinach
  • 50 g butter
  • 150 g fresh mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. Place the ground beef, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt and spices in a bowl and mix well. Shape the meatballs (approx. 30 g each).
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan and sauté the meatballs until golden brown.
  3. Lower the heat and add the canned tomatoes. Let simmer for 15 minutes (stirring). Add salt and pepper to taste. Add the parsley and stir again.
  4. In another pan, melt the butter and fry the spinach for one or two minutes (stirring constantly). Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add the spinach to the meatballs. Top with fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into pieces. Ready to serve.
